Show and Tell Friday

Okay, Ladies,

For my Show & Tell today, I am showing you a new thrift store find from yesterday. It is a "Shabby Chic" coffee table. I love the shape and quality of this table, but the problem is my house colors are sage green and (right now, for Winter) burgundy. For Spring it will be sage green and pink and blue. What the heck color should I paint this table? White doesn't match very well. All the rest of my furniture is walnut finished, accept a few accent pieces that are a light sage green. What do you think? Should paint it cream or green? Something else?

Please weigh in and let me know what you think! I wish that the color of my sofa looked better in these photos. It's really pretty green, but it looks more drab here. Oh, well.

Please check out There Is No Place Like Home, for the other Show and Tells!
Love,
Elizabeth

Ok, I am going out on a limb here. I think you should paint it black. I know. But I once heard that every room should have a bit of black and it would go with all the colors. I think cream would be too stark against the colors and the brown is going to be difficult to match. Have fun. Anxious to see what you do with it!

How about an umber stain to rub on it? Maybe make it look a little antiqued.

It is a great find and looks so sturdy with good bones:)!
My humble opinion is a beautiful rich cream with an antiquing rub which would bring out the richness of the other woods in the room.
I know what is in my head and I will find a picture for you.:)
My daughter is doing an all white piece right now and is tired of the black. It seems to have darkened her rooms and it has chipped easily and the under coat shows through with each ding.

Hugs this Sunday!

Oh the same with the balck chairs I did. Go see her furniture at homesweethideaway.blogspot.com:)

She is really becoming great at refinishing;)

Who is your home teacher?

I think that if added and antiquing stain to the white it would blend much better, BTW Great find!!

I vote for sage green to match the other tables in room or black. I would paint it black because I paint everything black!

Green...green...green. With envy.
I love it.

I like it white. I would put white pillows on your couch to tie it in. (In addition to another color of your liking, a celery green against your artichoke colored couch would look great and fresh for spring, or something purple like eggplant or lavender) A wide wok style wicker basket on the table with white and cream accents like eggs, flowers, potpourri in addition to the white rug in the picture and a nice white tablecloth on your dining table would bring everything together! (Just ideas)

Okay, I think you have enough green already, I wouldn't paint it, you could leave it the way it is or try a rub like a couple of others said, but I think once you put some decorative things on it it will tone it down, try adding some lighter colored pillows on your couch, you could also use a table runner on it, but I like the cream color.

I like it white or cream.

Regarding my recent post, yes it was from Lady Lydia :)
