The Uninvited (1944)
Stylish, well acted and with what was then cutting edge technology for special effects.
The Vampire Bat (1933)
Creepy and very well acted by top actors of the day.
The Innocents (1961)
Is the haunting real or in the mind of the haunted. You must decide. The wonderful Deborah Kerr is marvelous in this!
The Others (2001)
A classic haunting with a twist of an ending. Artfully shot and very well acted.
Easy to forget how frightening this movie was when it came out. Still holds up with its wonderful blend of humor and horror.
Burnt Offerings (1976)
I was recently also given a recommendation to see this, but I haven't yet seen it. It is rated PG, which bodes well for my list. :)
All these movies can be rented through Netflix.
What are your favorite Halloween movies?
Enjoy!

That is so fun. Your first movie listed is one of my favorites, The Uninvited. Sadly, it is not on DVD. So I have to keep my VHS operating. I also have "The Innocents", D.K. is so different than any of her other movies. Other favorites of mine are "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "Invaders from Mars". The latter was a favorite of my husband's too. We were both terrified when someone walked up the dune and the sand started swirling and the scary music started. We bought it a few years ago and laughed our heads off when we realized that we could see the zippers on the monster costume and that the monsters running through the caves was the same scene over and over again. lol I totally agree with you, I don't like the slasher movies, but I love the old classic horror and sci-fi. Happy Halloween ~ Alicia
