Show & Tell Friday/Thrift Store Finds

Welcome Friends and Visitors!

Today, I am showing you some thrift store finds that I bought quite awhile back, but I love them and would like to share.

First, I have two of this plate which go beautifully with my white china in my hutch. My livingroom/diningroom colors are sage green and pastels (for Spring and Summer, anyway). These cute plates are a wonderful accent which pick up the colors in the room.
This soup tureen originally cost me a dollar! I love creams and whites in my display hutch. Those light colors next to the walnut finish of the wood look so lovely to the eye...

Next, I picked up this dress for a song (thrifting, of course) in order to make an apron out of it. I just pulled it out to work on it and decided I'd like to show you.
Don't you think it will make a sweet apron, maybe even two?

One of My Favorite Things

One of the things that I had in common with my dear mother was her passion for wildlife, especially birds. When my mother passed away, my sister sent me her lovely bird plates. There are five. The one above is a winter scene of sweet little chickadees perched upon snow-frosted berries. Aren't they precious? I have real chickadees that come to my feeders outside everyday. They are some of my very favorite birds.

The best part, though is that the leaf-decorated plate holder I found one day stashed upon a shelf at my favorite thrift store. It cost me $1 and is just the perfect thing to hold my bird plates. When I found it, it was as if Someone "up there" was watching over me and had given me a gift! Now, I always have one of Mama's bird plates hanging over my kitchen sink, something lovely to look at since we have no kitchen window.

Some Lovely Finds

Today, I'm sharing two sweet finds from an afternoon of thrifting awhile back. They are two lovely plates that will go perfectly somewhere in my boudoir.
They are a lovely cream color, much like the french furniture of our masterbedroom. Our blue walls will be the perfect backdrop for these.
I believe that I spent $1 on both plates.

Aren't they pretty?

Hello, Again!!

Hello, Dear Friends,

I am overjoyed to say that I am back from my illness and feeling absolutely fantastic!! I am thankful for your prayers and also for the helpfulness of friends and neighbors who rallied round while I was down and out.

So, what was the first thing on my agenda after being in bed for a week? Why cleaning, of course! But, first, I needed a little Thrift Shop Therapy! Off I went to my favorite re-sell shop and found the following lovelies...These are just a few of the wonderful items I found.

This small, fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand-sized basket and the coconut will hold birdnests for spring...
This tiny prism will also hold a Spring time theme...

Here is a beautiful sequined frame, a gift for someone dear...
And a lovely saying, just in time for Valentine's Day...
It says:
"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart;
And sings it to you when you forget the words.?"

Have a lovely day today. I will be visiting blogs today, so give me time if I haven't gotten to your yet.

Love,
Elizabeth

Weekend's Thrifting Finds

Okay, now I can show you what were the results of my thrifting this past weekend! (Blogger pictures wasn't working over the weekend, for some reason)

Above, are some small, ceramic, pumpkin candles - all like new! Aren't they cute?

Above is a resin plaque of irises. It looks really beautiful in real life!
Lastly, here is an interesting candle holder/holders. It has lots of possibilities for different seasonal displays.

That's all that I found this weekend in my favorite thrift shop. Can't wait until next Saturday and whatever new treasures I will find.

Thrifty Friday

I love to go thrifting on payday Fridays. Today, I visited my favorite thrift store and came away with a number of treasures...Above are four saucers that have all of my livingroom/diningroom colors on them. I will either display them on my wall or in my hutch.
I love the beauty of glass (these would be prettier if I'd washed them first, but I was too excited to show you). The decanters I will use in my bathroom for cotton balls and cutips. The pitchers will be great in my kitchen for syrup and juices.

Here is the candlestick up close. It has a Fall design. I will put it away until Autumn.
Isn't this a pretty saucer? It has sage green and pink and will look pretty either on my wall or in my hutch.
Last, but not least, my favorite stoneware pattern: French Countryside, by Mikasa. I found four of these cups and saucers.

I also got a beautiful basket (not shown) and some kitchen utensils. I spent $20 on the whole lot. What a great price!

Love,
Elizabeth
